James is a long-time CFP reader, who made our day a few years back when he wrote to tell us that he “starts off every morning with coffee while reading Canada Free Press.”
This morning, James sent a message that made the bone-chilling wind coming in off the Atlantic and our worries about coming up with the money to keep our furnace up and running during an extraordinarily cold Maritime winter, much warmer.
James’ message, in an incredibly beautiful Gordon Lightfoot song, melted our worried hearts; melted our worried hearts in more ways than one.
I’d been surfing the Net, as I do every morning, when I stopped to read James’ message and tuned into Lightfoot’s song, ‘Song For A Winter’s Night’.
The horrors to be found on the ‘Net can bring folk down. Today, it’s the dear working man, Scotty Jackson, 51, a Grandad beaten to death by a piece of the wood he was delivering to a regular customer.
The heartbreak of his family would bring tears to anybody’s eyes. (Fox News, Jan.19, 2024)
Then the story about the cop deliberately run over by a perp set free on bail. (Fox News, Jan. 20, 2024)
The Fox News story headlined ‘The surprising baby names that may be going extinct in 2024’, really raised my dander. (Fox News, Jan. 22, 2024)
Like the little babes who bear them, baby names will NEVER go extinct. The babies, baptized or christened with the names given them by their parents, are still out there with their first names.
Now the progressive Marxists are even censoring the names parents give their babies?
Is the media of the day trying to break reader’s hearts, or just trying to drive the masses insane?!
So, Thank you, James for bringing sunlight and warmth into our hearts on this Winter day.
We’ll be humming Lightfoot’s song, ‘Song For A Winter’s Night’, not just over the next few days, but until brutal winter winds stop blowing.
Gordon Lightfoot wrote poetry on Winter-Weary Hearts everywhere.
In so doing, the late, remarkably talented Gordon Lightfoot left us a legacy that lives on forever at a time when it is most needed: a legacy that tells us , no matter whatever the Trudeau-led Liberal Government springs on us next, we can remain proud to be Canadian.
