New Delhi: Suryakumar Yadav cleared the air on a potential injury scare after he was spotted limping during his match-winning knock of unbeaten 102 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2024 on Monday. The Mumbai Indians (MI) batter returned to his best as he single-handedly guided his team to a thumping seven-wicket win against SRH at the Wankhede Stadium with his second IPL ton.

However, millions of Indian fans were left worried when Suryakumar was spotted limping and struggling to run between the wickets, sparking concerns of an injury during his sensational knock. Much to the relief of the fans, Suryakumar ruled out any injury while speaking in the post-match presentation ceremony after the conclusion of the game and revealed he was struggling due to tiredness.

“I’ve been doing this after very long time. After 14th December this is the first time I fielded for 20 overs and batted for 18. But I’m alright. Only tiredness,” Suryakumar said after being named the Player of the Match post MI’s 7-wicket victory.

Despite limping in the middle and struggling with fatigue, Suryakumar looked in fabulous touch as the world no.1 T20I batter showcased why he is one of the best in the world at the moment in the shortest format. Piercing gaps at ease and smashing the bowlers all over the park, Mr.360 once again displayed his range en route to his unbeaten 102.

MI were in a spot of bother at 31/3 in the 174-run chase when Suryakumar combined with Tilak Varma to share an unbeaten stand of 143 runs for the fourth wicket and take MI home. Suryakumar’s 102 not out of 51 balls was laced with 12 fours and six sixes while Tilak remained unbeaten on 37 off 32 balls with the help of six fours.

Suryakumar roaring back to form and getting a bog knock behind his back is a huge positive for India ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 which gets underway from June 02. Suryakumar has been named in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad and is expected to play a key role with the bat if India are to fancy their chances in the tournament.

A vital cog in India’s batting line-up, a lot will ride on his shoulders in the showpiece event in the US and the Caribbean next month.
