New Delhi: In a good news for commuters, the Ajmer-Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat train will now be extended till Chandigarh. The new service will start from Thursday, announced the North Western Railway (NWR) officials. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for several infrastructure projects for Indian Railways which will cost over Rs 85,000 crore.
Ajmer-Delhi Cantt- Chandigarh Vande Bharat: Timings, route
Shashi Kiran, chief public relations officer of NWR, said that train number 20977, Ajmer-Chandigarh Vande Bharat Superfast express train service will leave from Ajmer at 6:20 am from Thursday and reach Delhi Cantt at 11:30 am. It will leave Delhi Cantt at 11:40 am and reach Chandigarh at 2:45 pm. On the other hand, train number 20978, Chandigarh-Ajmer Vande Bharat Superfast Express will leave Chandigarh at 3:15 pm from Thursday and arrive at Delhi Cantt at 6:23 pm.
The Rail Ministry shared its plan to extend the Ajmer-Jaipur-Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat Express train services till Chandigarh in December 2023. The new Vande Bharat Express train will pass through Jaipur, Gurugram and Delhi Cantt before reaching Chandigarh. This expansion will benefit thousands of passengers travelling to Punjab from Ajmer, Jaipur, and Delhi.
Other Vande Bharat trains launched today
At present, two trains — Garib Rath, and Daulatpur Chowk-Sabarmati BG Express, operate between Chandigarh and Jaipur. However, the new Vande Bharat train will be faster. Besides the Ajmer-Delhi Cantt- Chandigarh Vande Bharat, the super fast train is operating on two routes — Delhi-Katra via Ambala and Amb-Andaura-Chandigarh-Ambala-New Delhi.
PM Narendra Modi has also laid the foundation stone of various rail infrastructure projects and flagged off several Vande Bharat and other trains on Tuesday. The new Vande Bharat trains will operate on these routes — Ahmedabad-Mumbai, Bengaluru-Chennai, Visakhapatnam-Puri, Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad, Ranchi-Varanasi, and others.
