New Delhi: Amid the Lok Sabha 2024 election campaign the political atmosphere in India went up several notches after Prime Minister Narendra Modi questioned whether there was a deal between Rahul and Adani-Amabi.

PM Modi’s remarks on whether Rahul Gandhi had a deal with Adani-Ambani had a deal that he stopped talking about during the poll campaigning, has angered Congress terming PM’s remarks as frustration after the first three phases of the election. The grand old party is celebrating what they see as a win, claiming that Rahul Gandhi’s relentless attacks on industrialists Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani have finally forced the Prime Minister to acknowledge the issue of corruption.

“Narendra Modi has made serious allegations against Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani. Adani and Ambani give away black money in bags. Finally, Rahul Gandhi forced PM Modi to expose the corruption,” the Congress party wrote in a post on X.

“Modiji, please tell me when will the ED, CBI, and Income Tax raid these two?” the Chairperson of Congress party’s social media, Supriya Shrinate questioned PM Modi’s remarks against two Industrialists.

The Congress hit back, proclaiming that PM Modi’s remarks were an unintentional admission of corruption. They asserted that Rahul Gandhi’s consistent focus on the Adani-Ambani issue had finally compelled the Prime Minister to address the elephant in the room.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress General Secretary, echoed this sentiment, emphasising that Rahul Gandhi has been vocal about the alleged nexus between PM Modi and big industrialists. She highlighted the stark contrast between the government’s willingness to waive off massive debts for corporations while neglecting the plight of farmers.

“Today Narendra Modi said- Rahul Gandhi is not taking Adani’s name. The truth is this- Rahul Gandhi talks about Adani every day, he puts the truth about Adani in front of you every day and exposes it,” Priyanka Gandhi said.

“Rahul Gandhi tells you every day that Narendra Modi has a nexus with big industrialists. Narendra Modi waived off ₹16 lakh crore of his friends but did not waive off a single rupee of the farmers. Narendra Modi should answer this,” she added.

Responding to PM Modi’s Jibe, Pawan Khera in a video message said that since April 3, Rahul Gandhi has mentioned the name of Adani 103 times and Ambani 30 times in his speeches.

The spark for this latest exchange was started by PM Modi’s jibe at Rahul Gandhi during an election rally in Telangana, where he questioned why the Congress leader had suddenly stopped mentioning Ambani and Adani in his speeches. He went on to accuse Gandhi and the Congress party of receiving black money from these industrialists.

With Rahul Gandhi continuing to target Adani and Ambani, and the Congress party framing it as a fight against corruption, PM Modi made these comments during an election rally. “For years, Congress ke shehzade din raat ek mala japte the…’5 industrialists’, ‘Ambani’, ‘Adani’…But since the elections are declared, they have stopped abusing Ambani, Adani…,” Modi said.

“Why? I wish to ask the Shehzadey of Congress, how much black money have they received from Adani, Ambani? How much the Congress party has ‘received’ from those industrialists for the elections?” the Prime Minister asked.
