New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Delhi Capitals by 67 runs in the 35th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. 465 runs were scored and 71 boundaries were smashed by both sides in the 40 overs match. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma scored 125 runs in the first six overs of the match, the highest score in the powerplay in IPL history.
SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar said after winning the match that his team accepted that bowlers will go for runs and its just a matter time of before he start picking up wickets “When you’re defending those many runs, we accepted that we will go for plenty of runs. We wanted to keep executing our plans. Just a matter of time before I start picking up wickets and things start going right”.
He also praised his team’s batting “Probably the first time our batting has clicked so well in so many years, as a bowling unit we are happy to take a bit of a backseat. We’ll feel like a score like 220-200 is less but yeah great that the batting unit is clicking”.
He also talked about Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma and said “Conditions don’t matter, they keep doing the same thing even in the nets. You don’t think much about where the ball is going while bowling in the nets but yes, they give us some nice practice, especially Abhishek and Travis Head”.
“Bowling is something that wins you matches, not sure who said it but they said batting wins you sponsorships and bowling wins you championships”, I think that’s a great saying. The way we executed our plans is great”. He added
Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated DC by 67 runs at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Batting first SRH scored 266 runs in 20 overs. Travis Head scored 89 runs off 32 balls with 11 boundaries and six maximums. Abhishek Sharma also scored 46 runs off 12 balls. Shahbaz Ahmed scored his maiden half-century of the season.
Chasing the target, DC didn’t get a good start as both the openers were dismissed in the first two overs. Abishek Porel along with Jake Fraser-McGurk tried to build a partnership but Markande dismissed both of them. Jake scored 65 runs off just 18 deliveries. Rishabh Pant also scored 44 runs but DC fell short of the target by 67 runs.
