New Delhi: CSK head coach Stephen Fleming provided an important update on star bowler Deepak Chahar ahead of their match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Deepak missed CSK’s last game against Mumbai Indians due to niggle. Chahar has taken 4 wickets in 4 IPL matches for CSK at an economy rate of 9.16.

Stephen Fleming in the pre-match press conference said that Deepak is doing his rehab well and it was just a minor injury. “He is doing his rehabs well. It was a minor injury nothing to worry about. Shardul Thakur bowled well in the last match against Mumbai so we opted to give time to Chahar to recover well”.

Fleming praised his fielders for taking some brilliant catches in the tournament and also said that IPL is not a tournament to get comfortable. “We have taken some outstanding catches and our outfielding has been good. All we want to do is to repeat what we did well and there were some good things for us in the last game in Mumbai against Mumbai Indians. In the IPL there is no time to be comfortable. If you feel comfortable, you make mistakes”.

CSK’s head coach also backed Daryl Mitchell and said that he is contributing to the team without giving any star performances.”He has been contributing without giving star performances. We like to back players a lot and it is not always the Man-of-the-Match performance that we value the most”.

CSK will look to win their third consecutive match when they take on LSG at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. CSK defeated KKR and MI in their last two matches. CSK defeated MI by 20 runs in their last match. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni contributed with the bat for Chennai. Matheesha Pathirana took 4 wickets and Deshpande, and Mustafizur took one wicket each for CSK. Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK is currently on the third spot in the IPL 2024 points table.
