New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 33 runs in the 21st match of the IPL 2024. KL Rahul led side won their third consecutive match of the season. LSG also won their first match of the IPL against the Gujarat Titans.
After the match, the LSG skipper spoke about defending the totals and praised his young bowling group.
‘We’ll take the win I am not going to make too much out of it (on defending totals). They get an idea how the wicket is playing and they’ve also been adapting really well. It’s a good record to have (defending all 160 totals), but it’s also where we’ve played.
Rahul also said that it helps their young bowling line-up when they bat first and also talked about the home advantage.
‘For the young bowling unit we have, it helps when we bat first. Having the home advantage helps. The bowlers have come through the ranks over the last couple of years. you have seen the same guys bowling in the last season as well., They have adjusted to their roles. Hopefully we can continue this’.
KL Rahul praised his spinners and also talked about LSG’s first win against the Titans.
“All three spinners have been key for us. Sid coming in this season has done really well, he plays a crucial part with the new ball, he’s shown great temperament. His job is to restrict the batters. Krunal Pandya is very experienced, he’s played IPL for so many seasons. Bishnoi has been around for so many years and keeps getting better. Feels good to get off the mark against Gujarat Titans”.
Yash Thakur was brilliant with the ball for Lucknow Super Giants, he took five wickets and gave away just 30 runs in the 3.5 overs. Mayank Yadav who impressed everyone with his pace left the field after bowling just one over due to a side strain. Krunal Pandya also took three wickets and gave away just 11 runs in the four over.
