New Delhi: Team India will look to end their 11-year ICC trophy drought when they start their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Ireland on June 5. BCCI announced the Indian squad for the mega-event on April 30. Rohit Sharma is leading the side and Virat Kohli is also named in the 15-member squad.

Both the players are in great form in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Virat has scored 500 runs in ten matches at an average of 71.43 and Rohit has scored 315 runs in ten matches at an average of 35.

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif said on Star Sports that Rohit and Virat will play cricket only for the next two to three years. “Rohit Sharma knows that he won’t be playing for long, maybe for the next 2 to 3 years. Virat Kohli is also on the same path”.

He also feels that it’s a big opportunity for the Indian Captain after losing the last ODI World Cup at home against Australia. “It’s a big opportunity for Rohit as a captain. He lost the ODI World Cup final after the match was in India’s hands. He was broken, and fans were heartbroken.

Kaif also said that despite winning 10 matches in the ODI World Cup 2023 India lost one match and hopes that the same situation doesn’t arise in the T20 World Cup “Despite winning 10 matches, India lost one match. I hope the situation isn’t the same in the T20 World Cup. It is only about a couple of big days”. He also said that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be extra-motivated for the mega-event
