Ohio: In a shocking incident reported from Ohio, a woman was charged more than $1,000 (Rs 82,900) for a Subway sandwich. Letitia Bishop ordered three sandwiches at a Subway in the Thorntons gas station in Columbus, Ohio, on January 5.

Bishop’s debit card was charged a whopping $1,021.50 for the order — including $1,010 (Rs 83,700) for a single sandwich.

The standard price of a footlong Subway sandwich is usually between $6.50 and $12.

Bishop noticed the hefty charge only after she left the Subway. When she went back to the outlet, she was told to get in touch with Subway’s corporate office.

“There’s no phone number that leads to a live person,” Bishop told ABC6.

She even tried to get in touch with her bank but got no help.

“I’m just trying to make ends meet at this point. I couldn’t get groceries at one point because my account was negative,” she told ABC6.

Bishop also returned to the Subway location, with hopes of getting her issue resolved. However, she found that the outlet was closed.

According to Subway’s website, the Thornton Oil outlet is temporarily closed.

Bishop filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Connecticut. Subway contacted her for a refund last weekend, Fox reported.

She was put in touch with the regional manager for Thorntons, who said that there was an online portal online for refunds. However, they had never used the portal and offered to give her cash at the gas station.

Bishop was asked to sign a receipt of the refund. However, all her problems weren’t solved. When she went to the bank to deposit the money, the funds were placed on hold, which meant that she couldn’t use them immediately to settle any outstanding bills.

“I just honestly don’t have the emotional space to deal with this because literally it’s stressing me out so much,” Bishop said, WSB-TV said.

The funds were set to clear on Monday afternoon.
