New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders have made a habit of winning at the home of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Following their seven-wicket victory over RCB in Match 10 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, KKR continued their dominance in the den of the hapless Challengers.

The Purple and Gold army was too hot to handle for the Men in Red on Friday despite another superb innings by their talisman Virat Kohli. The superstar batter scored his second successive fifty to give his side a fighting chance against Shreyas Iyer’s men but even a 220 score was not safe with RCB’s poor bowling attack.

KKR cruised to the 183-run target with seven wickets and 16 balls to spare to register their second successive win of the season. RCB, on the other hand, slumped to their second loss in three matches.

Knight Riders recorded their sixth consecutive win against the Challengers at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium since 2016. In other words, RCB have failed to win against the Knight Riders at home in the previous eight seasons.

The Bengaluru-based side boasted a superior 4-2 win record against KKR at home between 2008 and 2015 but the two-time champions have turned the table on their opponents in the last eight seasons. In recent meetings, KKR have won five of their last six matches against the Challengers.

On a pitch, where RCB batters struggled to score freely (barring Kohli), KKR batters scored at a rate of knots. The opening pair of Phil Salt and Philip Salt (30 off 20 balls) and Sunil Narine (47 off 22 balls) scored 86 runs in just 39 overs to set a perfect platform for the visitors.

Venkatesh Iyer (50 off 30 balls) and skipper Shreyas Iyer (39 not out off 24 balls) continued the onslaught on the hapless RCB bowling attack, which except, Mayank Dagar and Vijaykumar Vyshak (combined figures: 2/46 from 6.5 overs) were wayward and clueless. Mohammed Siraj (0/46), Yash Dayal (1/46) and Alzarri Joseph (0/34) gave away too many freebies to the KKR batters.
