Former India spin legend Harbhajan Singh has left aside famed IPL stars like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and named pacer Jasprit Bumrah as the new star of the cash-rich league. Malinga is incidentally the bowling coach of the Mumbai Indians franchise.

Bumrah produced a match-winning spell on Thursday in the game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede stadium, taking a five-wicket haul.

“To see him bowl from day one and today, there’s a huge difference. He’s been a great learner of the game. He wants to learn every day, even if he got five wickets today, he’ll go back and tomorrow, he’ll see the videos of himself and see where he can improve,” Harbhajan said on Star Sports.

“And he’s so calm, composed. When it comes to pressure situation, no one does better than what he does. People often talk about Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, because it’s a batter’s game. The former Indian player also said that Bumrah wins games for his side on his day like, raising questions on the batters as to how many match-winning knocks do they produce.

“He wins games on his day, like nothing. So, how many batters have done that?” he asked. “If you count, like three to four batters, but if you see the bowlers, it’s only Bumrah or Malinga across the format. So, unbelievable. So, the basic thing is he wants to learn and he wants to get better every day.

Meanwhile, in the five matches he has played, the pacer has taken 10 wickets and is currently at the top of the Purple Cap holders list. He has a fantastic economy rate of 5.95 and has conceded just 119 runs in the tournament so far.
