New Delhi: Mayank Yadav emerged as the star for Lucknow Super Giants with three wickets as the hosts got off the mark in the Indian Premier 2024 edition with a win in their second match against Punjab Kings. Knocks from Quinton de Kock, skipper Nicholas Pooran and Krunal Pandya helped the home side score 199 runs with the loss of 8 wickets at the end of 20 overs. While de kock scored a half-century (54), Pooran and Krunal smashed scores of 42 and 43 not out to post a good total for the side. For Punjab, Sam Curran picked up two wickets while Arshdeep Singh bagged a couple of wickets.

Chasing 200 for a win, PBKS openers Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow gave the side a dream start as they stitched more than a century-run stand for the opening wicket, setting a perfect base for a victory. However, wickets started tumbling after Bairstow became Super Giants’ first victim. Dhawan fought till the with a 50-ball 70-run knock but that did not prove enough to help the team cross the fence. Debutant Mayank Yadav came out as the star of the show as picked three crucial wickets helping his side claim the victory. Mohsin Khan also claimed two wickets as Dhawan’s special knock went in vain.

After the culmination of the 11th match of Indian Premier League, the first two spots in the Orange Cap list do not see any change. Virat Kohli and Heinrich Klaasen hold the first and second position respectively. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan has displaced Riyan Parag to the fourth spot and occupied the third position after a sensational performance against Lucknow Super Giants.

Like the Orange Cap list, the Purple Cap list also sees the first two spots remain unchanged. Mustafizur Raham is atop the list while Harshit Rana holds the second position. Kagiso Rabada and Sam Curran are the players to take the third and fourth place respectively. While Rabada has total of four wickets, Curran has also taken four wickets in the league till now.
