Pakistanis are set to observe the sighting of the Shawwal moon today on April 9 to celebrate Eidul-Fitr on April 10.

Ruet-e-Hilal, Pakistan’s top moon sighting committee, has convened a meeting to observe Shawwal crescent. Abdul Khabir Azad will chair the meeting of central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee along with zonal committees in provincial capitals.

Ahead of moon sighting, there is great excitement and anticipation among people, especially among youngsters as Eid is a time of celebration, joy, and togetherness, marked by special prayers, mouth-watering foods, gifts, and spending time with family and friends.

Muslims used to wear new clothes, decorate their homes, and participate in various cultural and festive activities.

If Muslims see crescent moon tonight, Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on April 10 Wednesday along with other Muslim nations like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, UK and other Gulf nations.

In rare case, if Shawwal crescent is not sighted, Eid will be held on April 11, Thursday, with total 30 fasts.

Faithful celebrate Eidul Fitr primarily as a religious event to mark end of Holy Month of Ramadan. In countries like Pakistan, Eid is a day of joy and thanksgiving to Allah Almighty for giving them the strength and patience to fast for whole month.

Eid is a blessed time for Muslims to express gratitude for the blessings they have received and to share their blessings with others, especially the less privileged. The event also holds deep spiritual and cultural significance for Muslims across the globe.
