The moon for Shawwal has not been sighted in India on Tuesday and thereby Eidul Fitr 2024 will be observed on April 11 Thursday.

Muslims in Asian nation will celebrate Eidul-Fitr on April 11 (Thursday) as the moon was not sighted on Tuesday, Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahli announced.

This announcement was made by Markazi Chand Committee Eidgah Lucknow, confirming the non-sighting of the moon for Eid.

Imams of Delhi’s Jama Masjid and Fatehpuri mosque also denied sighting moon, stating that Eid would be celebrated in India on Thursday.

The notification mentioned that the new moon of Shawwal had not occurred on April 9, making April 10 the 30th Roza and Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated on April 11, 2024.

In Pakistan, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is meeting in Islamabad to gather testimonies regarding the sighting of the Shawwal moon to mark Eid ul-Fitr.

zonal body committees meeting in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta to sight the Shawwal crescent and collect testimonies from various parts of the provinces. Central body said that it has received moon sighting testimonies from different parts of the country, including Sheikhupura, Jiwani, Kohlu and other cities.

If the crescent is sighted today, Eid ul-Fitr will fall on Wednesday, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, followed by the major festival celebrated on the first day of Shawwal.

The chairman of the moon sighting committee, Maulana Khabir Azad, is presiding over the meeting in Islamabad, with officials from the meteorology department, Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), and the Ministry of Science and Technology also in attendance.
