PESHAWAR – Parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar received rainfall of varying intensities, isolated hailstorms and snowfall over mountains during the last 24 hours with experts predicting similar weather conditions to persist on Tuesday evening/night.

Rains, isolated hailstorms and snowfall made the weather chilly in Peshawar and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Snowfall (Inches): Kalam 16.5, Drosh 12, Malam Jabba 08, Chitral 7.6, Mirkhani 06, Dir 2.5, Bagrote 1.2, Murree 0.5

Kalam remained the coldest place in the country where the temperature dropped 08 degrees Celsius below freezing.

In Peshawar, minimum temperature was recorded at 06 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 93 per cent.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave is affecting the upper parts of Pakistan. It may persist during the next 24 hours.

Under these conditions, cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the province on Tuesday evening/night and Wednesday. However, more rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over hills are likely in Abbottabad, Manshera and adjoining areas on Tuesday evening/night. On Wednesday, a light rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over hills is likely in Abbottabad, Manshera, Kohistan and Kurram.

Peshawar’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 08-10 C on Wednesday and 07-09 C on Thursday.
