ISLAMABAD – Rain lashed Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours with experts predicting the wet spell to continue intermittently on Tuesday evening/night.

Significant rains, isolated hailstorms and snowfall over the mountains made the weather chilly in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan.

Rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over hills occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Islamabad, Pothohar region, northeast Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where the temperature dropped 09 degrees Celsius below freezing.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 06 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 94 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 08 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 85 per cent.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave is affecting the upper parts of Pakistan. It may persist during the next 24 hours.

Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts and freezing in the upper parts of the country on Tuesday evening/night. However, more rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over hills is expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas.

On Wednesday and Thursday, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts and freezing in the upper parts of the country. However, a light rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over hills is expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas.

Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 10-12 C on Wednesday and 09-11 C on Thursday.

Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 10-12 C on Wednesday and 09-11 C on Thursday.
