Syrian state media outlets reported an Israeli strike in Damascus on Monday.
Syria’s official news agency SANA reported that “Israeli aggression” had targeted a building in the Mazzeh neighborhood. The agency did not immediately provide further details.

SANA later reported that Syrian air defenses responded to the Israeli strike, which occurred at around 5:00 p.m. local time (10:00 a.m. ET). The attack destroyed the building and led to the “martyrdom and injury of everyone inside.”
The Iranian state media outlet Press TV shared a post on X that said a building near the embassy sustained a missile attack.

Reuters reported that Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that six people were killed in the strike, adding that an "Iranian leadership figure” was targeted.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the reports.
Israel is suspected of carrying out regular airstrikes in Syria against Iranian military targets. The strikes have continued since the start of the Gaza war in October.
