Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was injured in the central city of Ramle Friday when his official car flipped over in an accident.

According to preliminary reports, the minister was taken to the nearby Assaf Harofeh hospital. He was described as having suffered light to modest injuries. Ben-Gvir's daughter, one of his bodyguards and the driver of the other vehicle were all lightly injured.

A witness at the scene told Ynet that the minister’s car proceeded against a red light, and a car coming from the other direction, with a green light, hit it.

Ben-Gvir had arrived in Ramle shortly after an 18-year-old woman was stabbed by an unidentified person. A passerby shot and killed the assailant. The young woman is in critical condition. Police have not indicated whether the stabbing is being treated as a terror attack. Ben-Gvir traveled to the scene to inspect the work of the police, for which he is responsible.

This accident involving Ben-Gvir’s car is not the first. Last August, one of the vehicles in the minister's convoy was involved in an accident in Jerusalem. Police suspected that the driver had also proceeded without having a green light. The car collided with a private vehicle, but no one was injured.
