Reckitt Benckiser Group Plc has been plunged into crisis after a jury awarded an Illinois woman $60 million in damages, saying the company’s Enfamil infant formula led to the death of her premature baby.

It’s hard to escape the feeling that the consumer products company is spinning out of control. It must do all it can to avoid becoming the latest litigation washout, reassuring investors that this is an isolated case and ensuring it retains the confidence of customers and investors.
