You can stop worrying about Kate Middleton, because the royal was spotted visiting a farm shop outside London on Saturday … and now there’s video to prove it.

On Monday morning, The Sun reported that the ostensibly “missing royal” had been sighted over the weekend at a farm shop in Windsor. But many found this highly suspicious, as it seemed these eyewitnesses spoke to The Sun exclusively, would not give their names, and did not take any photos of the princess.

But hours later, The Sun responded to the haters with what appears to be actual footage of the Princess of Wales.

The brief footage shows Kate smiling, dressed in a hoodie and leggings, and carrying a shopping bag.

And the new Sun report now includes a named source:

Nelson Silva, 40, who took the video, was shopping for steak at the farm shop when he spotted Kate and William in the bread aisle.

He told The Sun: “I noticed a couple choosing loaves of bread and the woman turned her face and I felt like I had seen the face before. It was familiar. I knew it from somewhere.

“Then William turned back and I thought ‘hold on I know this person’. I said to the staff ‘I think it’s them’ as I paid.

“I went to my car and as they came out of the shop I just filmed them. I think they walked out through a gate out of the grounds. They just vanished and I didn’t see a car.

“I just wanted to share with my family footage and show just how normal they were.”

He said the couple had obvious “chemistry” and “were super relaxed”.

“I didn’t feel like they were hiding who they were. But they didn’t quite know how people would react because there has been this build-up about their whereabouts and I got the sense they just wanted to be swift in there.

“Kate looked happy and relaxed. They look happy just to be able to go to a shop and mingle. Kate looked relieved like it was a success going to a shop. It felt natural.”

The Sun could not resist saying, “Told you so”:

[The footage] comes amid weeks of vile and bullying online behaviour where wild conspiracy theories have been spread unchecked.

Some even refused to believe our front page yesterday, despite Wills and Kate having being spotted by members of the public.

On January 17, Kensington Palace announced that Catherine, the Princess of Wales, had undergone “planned abdominal surgery” the previous day, and would be recovering at Adelaide Cottage, her home in Windsor, “until after Easter.” Since Christmas, we had only seen two grainy photos of the princess riding in cars with her mother and her husband, Prince William. There have been no significant updates on her health aside from terse claims from the palace that she is “doing well.” The “Where is Kate Middleton” speculation reached a fever pitch last week when the royals shared a heavily Photoshopped Mother’s Day photo on social media, after which Kate apologized for her “experiment with editing.”

Then in Monday’s cover story, The Sun reported that Kate was spotted twice with William on Saturday: In the morning, they watched their kids “take part in sports” and they also visited her “favourite farm shop.”

Though the paper declared “First public trip ends web rumours,” in reality the report did the opposite. The Sun’s post revealing the cover was even amended with a warning on X that labeled it “misleading.”

There were plenty of reasons to doubt the story, especially after so much odd behavior from Kensington Palace. The cover photo of Kate in a red blazer was actually taken months ago. And the text of the story did not address key questions like: When was Kate there? Did she speak to anyone? How many sources say they saw her? What are their names? Did they take any photos? If so, did they share those images with reporters to corroborate their claims? This was all The Sun said about the Kate sighting in the original report:

Princess Kate took her first steps towards a return to official engagements with a trip to her favourite farm shop.

Onlookers said she looked “happy, relaxed and healthy” on the visit a mile from her Adelaide Cottage home in Windsor on Saturday.

In a further boost yesterday, Kate and William spent the morning watching children George, ten, Charlotte, eight, and Louis, five, take part in sports.

The sightings come amid wild speculation and gossip about her health and whereabouts which left the royal couple “devastated”.

Kate was also embroiled in hurtful criticism over a Mother’s Day picture which she altered using Photoshop.

A witness at the farm shop in Windsor said: “After all the rumours that had been going round I was stunned to see them there.

“Kate was out shopping with William and she looked happy and she looked well.

“The kids weren’t with them but it’s such a good sign she was healthy enough to pop down to the shops.”

Now that The Sun has backed up its reporting with footage of Kate looking happy and healthy, this should put an end to all the rampant speculation. But it almost certainly won’t: About half the replies to The Sun’s tweet unveiling the video are from people insisting that the person walking with Prince William is a Kate impersonator.

This post was updated throughout after The Sun posted footage of the princess.
