To mark its 125th birthday at the end of next month, the Victorian shopping avenue will be dressed in red, white and blue bunting, with a "special" ceremony hosted by notable Norwich figures.

For the occasion, each store will run an offer around the theme and will have an antique-style black-and-white photograph taken to display outside.

On Friday, May 24, a ribbon-cutting event will take place at 11am, which organisers hope will be attended by the lord mayor, and a birthday cake will be presented by the team at Macarons & More.

The Golden Star Morris dancing group and their concertina player will perform outside the Gentleman’s Walk entrance in the morning and afternoon and Jonathan Skipper, a grandson of Arcade architect George Skipper, will also say a few words.

At around midday, gin and tea will be served in the Arcade at a stall decorated with flowers by Gemma at Basil & Pip.
