Norfolk County Council is advising drivers to avoid the Herring Bridge area in Great Yarmouth while works to fix an issue are carried out.

The bridge, which was opened only six weeks ago, got stuck on Wednesday morning for more than 30 minutes, which the council later stated was a "minor technical fault".

A spokesman for the council said the bridge will be raised at 6am today (March 14) and will remain in the upright position while further investigations are carried out.

"We apologise for any inconvenience and ask all motorists and pedestrians to use alternative routes until further updates are issued," the spokesman added.
