Police arrested three men in their 40s and one in his 20s after Matthew Griggs' body was found on Church Lane, Sprowston.

Church Lane, Sprowston (Image: Peter Walsh, Newsquest)Detectives believe Mr Griggs had been involved in two separate altercations in Norwich a few days before his body was found, at around 7.45am on September 23 last year.

A murder investigation was launched after a post-mortem examination revealed the former White Woman Lane Middle School and Sprowston High School pupil had received blunt force trauma to his chest.

A spokesman for Norfolk Police said three of the men arrested have been rebailed until June 28 with one man being rebailed until July 12.

Mr Griggs's family have issued a tribute to the son, brother, uncle, nephew and boyfriend who would be "sorely missed by all".

His family said they "still can't believe that he's no longer with us".

They said Mr Griggs, who did not have any children, was born in Norwich in 1985 and lived in Sprowston until the late 1990s when the family moved to Ely.

The Canaries' fan later worked in several pubs, hotels and restaurants across the region.
