U.S. President Joe Biden has called Israel’s response “over the top.” Vice President Kamala Harris recently called for an “immediate cease-fire.” And Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer spoke on the Senate floor this week and called on Israel to hold new elections because its prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, had “lost his way.”
