One of the best known plays in the Arab world, which starred the Egyptian comedy icon Adel Imam, is “The Witness Who Saw Nothing.” Imam plays the role of Sarhan Abdelbasir, a simple and naive man who divides his time between his home and his job as an actor playing a rabbit on a children’s television show. One day his downstairs neighbor, a belly dancer, is murdered. He has no connection to the killing, he didn’t see anything, but nevertheless he becomes the key witness and the one who will decide the fate of the accused.
