Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a great opportunity. It came at the worst possible moment, but a little common sense would have enabled him to make the best of it. He could have removed the useless Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir from their jobs, bring Yair Lapid and Avigdor Lieberman into the government, dispense of the ten superfluous ministries, get rid of all the MKs sitting in the Knesset due to the Norwegian law, do away with the coalition funds and then make a defining speech.
