Target is once again recalling products after customer backlash -- this time due to a significant historical error.

On February 1, the retail giant pulled a magnet learning activity from its display for Black History Month, which celebrates the achievements of African Americans in the U.S., after a customer on TikTok pointed out a significant mislabeling. According to @issatete, a history teacher who bought the kit for her students and who originally posted the complaint three days ago, the company labeled images of Civil Rights activists with incorrect names, including images of Carter G. Woodson, W.E.B. Du Bois, and Booker T. Washington.

"Any person could have missed the mistake, but it just takes one person to point it out and ask for corrections," @issatete writes in the post. Over 3,000 have commented on it, expressing disappointment and sadness over the company's inability to notice the mistake and the publisher's lack of historical awareness.

The retailer is no longer selling the product and has since removed it completely, a Target spokesperson confirmed for The New York Post. The company also said it notified Bendon, the product's publisher, of the flaw.

Target offers a variety of products for Black History Month, including clothing, accessories, skin care, toys, and books sold in-store and online. This is not the first time the company has had to recall products due to uproar on social media. Last year, Target notably pulled LGBTQ+ merchandise from its Pride Month collection in response to threats made to the company and employees on social-media platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
