Palestinian President M. Abbas announced the other day that he was reviewing relations with the U.S., given Washington’s veto of a Security Council Resolution that would have recommended granting Palestine full UN membership.
It has become obvious to many that the Americans have never taken into account the interests of the Palestinian people when developing their policies. In fact, the goal of the American strategy has been to strengthen Israel.
An ever-greater number of countries are abandoning the American military presence: recently, the authorities of the African state of Niger achieved the withdrawal of American troops from that country.
The government of Iraq has also demanded the withdrawal of American troops. The leadership of the Syrian Arab Republic has repeatedly drawn attention to the fact that the presence of American combat troops on its territory is illegal.
America, as the Saudi Arab News noted on April 24, is an international hypocrite who says one thing and does another: the U.S. has lost its mandate as the so-called leader of the free world as the country faces internal dysfunction: the divisions in its political system are widening and becoming a chasm that cannot be bridged. The polarization is so great that it is hard to imagine a scenario in which both sides could unite.
The racial divide continues to manifest itself violently on the streets of America’s major cities. In fact, racism against Muslims and Arabs is on the rise, and Islamophobia is gaining ground.
Washington constantly defends Israel, and any nation that criticizes Israel virtually becomes an enemy of America. (It is no coincidence that Tel Aviv calls its alliance with the U.S. ‘ironclad’).
Therefore, the Saudi newspaper concludes, “the Arab and Muslim worlds should reconsider their alliances with the United States.”
On the other hand, the Al Jazeera website continued on April 23, the U.S. and many other Western governments are becoming complicit in Israel’s heinous crimes, complicit in genocide.
It is far from coincidence that students at many of America’s largest universities have been demonstrating under pro-Palestinian slogans in recent days, and this movement is growing, with the American media comparing these student demonstrations to the protests against the Vietnam War in 1968.
These demonstrations are merging with demands for more and more social justice: the conclusions of the American researcher Dustin Guastella about the American government as a government of the rich have become widespread. More than half of the members of the U.S. Congress are millionaires, almost two-thirds of senators and more than 80% of all U.S. presidents are also millionaires, according to the researcher, there has been no case of a worker staying for a second term in the House of Representatives, only millionaires and lawyers are perpetual.
In this regard, an article in Bloomberg is quite remarkable, arguing that many people in Western countries think that politicians are useless people. Every week new scandals involving sex and money erupt. However, all records of shamelessness have been broken by former British Prime Minister Liz Truss, who actively continues to speak out in favor of Ukraine and Israel. Her new book, Ten Years to Save the World, blames her failed premiership (49 days as head of government) on everything imaginable – from deep lethargy to flea infestation – except her own incompetence.
The American media is full of reports of gaffes by President Biden, who, speaking recently at a campaign rally in Florida, said he and his party could not be trusted, and at a union conference in Washington, D.C., read aloud all the instructions written on a teleprompter.
All these phenomena were summarized most recently by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, speaking in Budapest at the opening of the International Conservative Political Action Conference. According to him, the world order based on liberal ideology has failed and must be destroyed and replaced by a system of international relations based on state sovereignty and national interests. He argued that in recent years a liberal hegemony has been established in the West that “has made the world a worse place.” This world order has produced leaders who are failing, who are making mistake after mistake. These leaders have “created war where there could have been peace,” bringing chaos to international politics and security.
“The disciples of that old world are still sitting in Brussels; and, although it is not my job to interfere in American domestic politics, I am afraid they are sitting in Washington,” Orbán concluded.
Meanwhile, according to journalist Dalia al-Aqidi, “In the wake of the surge in inflation seen in recent years, the economic landscape in the U.S. is undergoing a seismic shift, one marked by escalating prices and dwindling purchasing power for millions of Americans. Despite the Biden administration’s assurances of swift action and effective policy implementation, the reality on the ground paints a grim picture of economic distress and uncertainty.” The cost of living continues to rise from grocery store counters to monthly energy bills, leaving families struggling to make ends meet and questioning the government’s ability to effectively address this pressing issue. Instead of finding constructive solutions for improving the standard of living of ordinary Americans, the Biden administration has gone to great lengths to provide material aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.
It is notable that even the magazine Foreign Affairs acknowledged in early April that the approaches of the U.S. and the Global South on major issues of international relations are increasingly diverging, and America’s enemies are uniting to overturn the existing world order.
Even U.S. allies are increasingly critical of American policy: French President Emmanuel Macron, speaking at Sorbonne University on April 24 this year, stressed the need for an independent defense policy for Europe and noted that the United States could not be relied on as much as it used to be.
