New Delhi: Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner Preity Zinta said everyone wants him and everyone is his fan after a fan requested her to bring the legendary MS Dhoni to her franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni, who is in the final lap of his career, is likely playing his lats season for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL 2024 and is expected to hang up his boots after the season.

Having already relinquished captaincy, Dhoni is playing under new CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and has been enjoying his time in the league. Despite being 42 and past his peak, Dhoni continues to enjoy massive support across the country as fans paint every stadium yellow no matter where CSK are playing. Many want the legendary wicket-keeper batter to continue playing for one more season despite his knee issues.

After CSK defeated Punjab Kings by 28 runs at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Sunday, a fan took to Twitter to make a special request to PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta. The fan urged her to bring Dhoni to PBKS. The Bollywood actor’s response to the fan’s tweet won hearts and went viral on Twitter instantly.

“Everyone wants him and everyone is his fan including me. Yesterday was bittersweet. I wanted us to win and him to hit some big sixes but we lost and he got out. The only bright spot was our bowlers did so well in restricting them but eventually it was not enough,” Preity replied.

Dhoni, who has been in fine touch as a finisher this season, walked out to bat at no.9 for CSK in their clash against Punjab Kings on Sunday. Fireworks were expected of the former CSK skipper’s bat, who has already produced some memorable cameos in IPL 2024. However, Dhoni ended up getting dismissed on a golden duck after being deceived by a slower yorker from Harshal Patel.

He walked back without opening his account as the fans in Dharamshala were left disappointed. Nonetheless, Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round heroics propelled the defending champions to a convincing victory. Jadeja scored a crucial knock of 43 runs off 26 balls and picked up three wickets to help CSK comfortably defend the total of 167 runs and register a much-needed win.
