New Delhi: The craze for MS Dhoni among Indian fans is unparalleled. Even if Chennai Super Kings feature in an away match, it always feels like a home game. The sea of Yellow engulfs the whole stadium, even outnumbering the home fans, who themselves don the Yellow of CSK to show their love and support for the iconic Indian cricket.

The match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and CSK in Hyderabad in the first week of April witnessed amazing scenes as the Orange jerseys of the home side were easily outnumbered by CSK’s Yellow in the stands of Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

SRH skipper Pat Cummins was left in awe of the ‘crazy’ crowd support for Dhoni. “The crowd was crazy tonight. When MS walked out, it was as loud as I’ve ever heard,” said Cummins in the post-match presentation ceremony.

In Chennai’s home match against Kolkata Knight Rider last week, the roar of the crowd at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium was so loud and intense on Dhoni’s entry that it forced Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell to close his ears.

Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the lucrative T20 league, recently revealed data that proved there is no match for Dhoni’s popularity in IPL and Indian cricket.

Star Sports revealed unique data that measured the highest decibel level at an IPL venue during the match and the list included two Dhoni moments.

The moment when MSD entered the field ahead of the toss of the inaugural match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru generated a whopping decibel level of 130 to make it to the top of the chart.

Behind the stadium-deafening moment is another IPL special of Dhoni. His breathtaking cameo against Delhi Capitals in Vizag recorded a decibel level of 128. The explosive batter rolled back the years by smashing three sixes and four boundaries in his unbeaten 16-ball 37 to send the crowd into a frenzy. However, Dhoni’s blitz was enough as CSK lost the match by 20 runs in chase of a 192-run target.

CSK’s latest away trip to play ‘El Clasico’ with fierce rivals Mumbai Indians witnessed crazy scenes as the Wankhede crowd roared at the top of their lungs to support Dhoni when he walked into bat against the fellow five-time champions on Sunday. The noise grew louder when Dhoni hit home skipper Hardik Pandya for three back-to-back sixes in the final over of the innings.

CSK’s next assignment is also away from home in Lucknow on Friday, April 19 but Dhoni-mania does not need to wait for CSK to feature in a game.

Ahead of tonight’s match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, Dhoni fever gripped the iconic Eden Gardens. Photos of fans posing with Dhoni’s jersey went viral on social media before the blockbuster clash.
