New Delhi: Delhi Capitals returned to winning ways with a well-fought 20-run victory over Rajasthan Royals as they kept their slim Indian Premier League playoff hopes alive at the Arun Jaitley stadium on Tuesday. Tristan Stubbs smashed a quickfire 41 from 20 balls after Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel’s sensational half-centuries to lift Delhi Capitals to 221/8 in the stipulated 20 overs.

In reply, Rajasthan Royals were restricted to 201 for 8 with Kuldeep Yadav being the pick of the bowler for Delhi, returning with 2/25. Khaleel Ahmed (2/47) and Mukesh Kumar (2/30) also picked up two wickets apiece. At the post match presentation, RR skipper Samson said that the game was almost in their hands but the run rate took off after some time which made it difficult.

“I think we had it in our hands, it was like 11-12 runs per over, it was achievable, but these things happen in IPL. Yes, we are doing both the things fine, we will like to stick to what the conditions demand, 220 was 10 runs extra to chase, if we had conceded a couple of less boundaries, we would have made it through”, he said.

He further praised young Australian sensation Fraser McGurk for exceptional batting display yet another time. “Fraser McGurk) came out and did what he has done through the tournament, we still came back well. We have lost three games but all those games have been really tight, we have been playing remarkably well, we have to do some fine-tuning and make a comeback, we need to keep the momentum going”, he added.

The Royals skipper further said that they need to find out where they lost the game and need to keep moving ahead in the tournament.
