New Delhi: Delhi Capitals kept their nerves till the last as they managed to beat Rajasthan Royals by 20 runs in an Indian Premier League 2024 clash at the Arun Jaitley stadium on Tuesday. With their 6th win in 12 games and 12 points in their kitty, the Capitals have kept themselves in the contention for the race for the playoffs and the Royals still remain one game away from officially going through to the next stage.

Batting first, the hosts scored 221 runs for the loss of 8 wickets on the back of sensational performances from Jake Fraser-McGurk, Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs. While young Aussie sensation Fraser-McGurk scored a half-century, Porel slammed 65 runs while Stubbs played a quality knock of 41 runs to power Delhi to a above-par total. For Rajasthan, seasoned spinner R Ashwin took three wickets.

Meanwhile, the chase for Rajasthan was a bit tricky but it gathered momentum from a remarkable innings by skipper Sanju Samson who smashed 86 runs to become the lone warrior for RR. Rest of the batters tried their bit but could perform up to the mark to help RR cross the line. For Delhi, Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Khaleel Ahmed picked up two wickets each.

Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad remain in the first two places of the Orange Cap holder list with 542 and 541 runs respectively to their name. Sanju Samson has taken the third spot with a sensation knock of 86 runs in the clash against Delhi Capitals, taking his overall score to 471.

As far as the Purple Cap holder list is concerned, it sees Mukesh Kumar entering the list with 15 wickets to his name. Jasprit Bumrah leads the list with 18 wickets while Harshal Patel is second with 17 wickets.
