Are terrorists among the millions of illegal migrants who pour across our border under Joe Biden?

Recent evidence suggests the answer to that question is yes—and raises more questions regarding the severe risks of an effectively open border.

An illegal migrant, wanted for terrorism in his home country of Senegal in West Africa, was arrested in New York City last month. This indicted terrorist sauntered into the United States with amazing ease, mingling among the more than 8 million crossings of illegal migrants who form a human tsunami of trespassers into our homeland.

He crossed from Mexico into Arizona, unvetted and unencumbered, where he was processed and cordially served up with legal passage to his requested destination of New York. The only restriction placed upon the accused terrorist was a self-enforcement request to appear in court in New York.

Fortunately, ICE discovered this entry and apprehended the fugitive two weeks into his U.S. stay.

Such risks are never acceptable—particularly not now, given the raging war in the Middle East. Hamas unleashed carnage on Israeli civilians, and it despises America almost as much as it hates Israel.

Voters in key swing states are alert to this danger, and to the other material harms inflicted every day by the recklessness of Biden and the Democrats. My organization, the League of American Workers, commissioned a sweeping survey of 800 voters across the key battleground states of Arizona, Wisconsin, Georgia, and North Carolina.

Citizens in these states firmly reject Biden's weakness on immigration, and signal significant political opportunity for conservative candidates willing to insist on secure borders, deportations, and an overall security agenda of law and order.

Within these four states, polling firm North Star Opinion Research found that the immigration/border issue is the second most important topic on voters' minds, trailing only the economy.

In these battleground states, 68 percent of citizens report that they are concerned about the lack of current border control, with 47 percent describing themselves as "very concerned." Importantly, this issue resonates far beyond Republican and conservative voters, as 67 percent of independents convey concern, with 45 percent of non-partisan voters stating they are "very concerned."

Moreover, among voters who cite national security as their most important election issue (national security was third in priority, behind only the economy and the border), an astounding 84 percent expressed concern about the border, with 61 percent "very concerned."

Our poll also revealed broad agreement across U.S. regions about the migration crisis. Across all four states surveyed—Arizona, Wisconsin, Georgia, and North Carolina—the percentages of people who reported concern were almost identical. Biden's radical policies have turned every jurisdiction in America into "border states," not just literal border states like Arizona.

Consequently, states like North Carolina suffer the havoc of Biden's border surrender. Although Wake County, North Carolina, is over 1,500 miles away from Mexico, the good citizens of this self-declared "sanctuary" region deal with the physical and psychological scars of totally preventable crimes perpetrated by illegal aliens and enabled by the liberal Raleigh-Durham area sheriff.

As Townhall reported, the city's sheriff "has refused to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement since taking office in late 2018, frequently releasing criminal illegal aliens back onto the street." The sheriff also repeatedly clashed with the Trump administration over his criminal-coddling sanctuary policies.

Because of radical politicians from Biden down to local sheriffs, North Carolina children suffered a wave of sexual assaults perpetrated by illegal aliens. Last year, in just one day, 24 charges of violent sexual assault were filed against illegal aliens. One of these illegal aliens is accused of 12 serious sexual crimes against children in North Carolina.

Like North Carolina, Wisconsin is not a border state. Eau Claire, Wisconsin, sits more than 8,000 miles from the war-torn and unstable country of Somalia, a longtime breeding ground for terrorism. Nonetheless, the globalist Biden administration now plans to settle Somali refugees in this peaceful northern Wisconsin town.

Outraged Eau Claire citizens protested the move, unwilling to become a smaller version of the nearby Twin Cities of Minnesota. Minneapolis has become the first U.S. city to allow an "adhan," a Muslim prayer call, to be broadcast in the city five times a day. Ilhan Omar represents Minneapolis in the U.S. House of Representatives, and she easily won reelection in 2022 despite her extreme and anti-American agenda.

In contrast to these lax border trends, our new poll makes it clear that the voters who will decide the 2024 election cycle demand security and American sovereignty. Joe Biden is failing at the most basic task of any elected official: to maintain order. Biden and his allies diminish America every day through reckless border softness, and swing state voters rightly demand a return to strength.
