Mr Quigley was attacked in the town's busy shopping district in broad daylight, as a rivalry between two Norwich gangs turned deadly.

Alfie Hammett, 19, and Joshua Howell, 18, both from the Ipswich area, have been on trial since December 11, accused of the 18-year-old's murder, as well as possession of an offensive weapon.

They were both convicted of all charges at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday afternoon.

Andrew Jackson, prosecuting, had told the trial that the pair had confronted Mr Quigley on Westgate Street, and that Hammett attacked him, as Howell wielded a machete to prevent friends of the victim from intervening.

He said Howell chased one of those friends at knifepoint into the nearby branch of JD Sports, allowing Hammett to kill Mr Quigley.

Mr Jackson had told the jury a rivalry between Norfolk gangs had prompted the attack on January 17 last year.

The court was told Hammett was part of the Third Side Norwich gang while Mr Quigley was part of the Only The Money gang in Norwich. Howell was part of the IP3 or Nacton gang in Ipswich, which was affiliated to the Third Side.

Hammett had not given evidence during the trial, but his defence disputed that he was the suspect seen fleeing the scene in CCTV footage of the area.

Howell had said he met with Hammett for a drug deal and taken a blade with him for protection, but said he did not see the attack happen.
