After a year in film best defined by the Barbenheimer phenomenon and a two-pronged strike season, it’s time to celebrate 2023’s biggest and best movies. The 96th Academy Awards are right around the corner, with nominees across 23 different categories being announced earlier this morning. Per the Academy, the year of massive movies was reflected in its voter turnout, as a record number of members sent in ballots. Whether or not their tastes align exactly with the average moviegoer remains to be seen—we’ll have to wait and see who the winners are.
The Oscars will take place Sunday, March 10th, starting at 7 p.m. ET and airing on ABC. Jimmy Kimmel is returning for his fourth stint as the show’s host. The full list of nominees is below.
