ISLAMABAD – Widespread rains with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan on Thursday evening/night, Friday and Saturday.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a strong westerly wave prevails over most parts of Pakistan. It will likely grip upper parts of the country on Friday.
Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in the twin cities and across Pakistan on Thursday evening/night and the next two days. Heavy falls/hailstorms are also expected at few places.
Heavy rainfall may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and tributaries of Kabul River on 18th and 19th April. Landslides are also likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Windstorm/hailstorm and lightning may damage standing crops, loose structures like electric poles and solar panels during the period.
Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 27-29 degrees Celsius on Friday and 29-31 C on Saturday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will remain between 26-28 C on Friday and 28-30 C on Saturday.
Meanwhile, rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred in Balochistan, upper Sindh and south/northeastern Punjab during the last 24 hours. Heavy falls also occurred in south Balochistan.

Mithi remained the hottest place in the country where maximum temperature was recorded at 42 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 60 per cent.
In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 31 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 67 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 30 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 58 per cent.
