PESHAWAR – More rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms are expected in Peshawar and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday evening/night, Friday and Saturday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a strong westerly wave prevails over most parts of Pakistan. It will likely grip upper parts of the country on Friday.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated heavy and very heavy falls and snowfall over high mountains are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Waziristan, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan and Kurram on Thursday evening/night, Friday and Saturday. Hailstorms are also likely at isolated places during the period.

Heavy rainfall may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra and tributaries of Kabul River on 18th and 19th April. Landslides are also likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Windstorm/hailstorm and lightning may damage standing crops, loose structures like electric poles and solar panels during the period.

Peshawar’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 26-28 degrees Celsius on Friday and 28-30 C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. However, rain occurred at few places.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in the province where maximum temperature was recorded at 33 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 79 per cent.

In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 32 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 78 per cent.
