PESHAWAR – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted partly cloudy weather and scattered rains with snowfall over mountains for Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday evening/night.

According to the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is affecting most parts of Pakistan. It is likely to prevail during the next 24 hours.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over mountains are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Malakand, Abbottabad, Balakot, Manshera, Buner and Kurrum on Sunday evening/night. Cold and partly cloudy weather is expected elsewhere in the province.

On Monday and Tuesday, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most districts of the province. Partly cloudy/very cold weather is likely in upper districts. Light rain/light snowfall may occur in Abbottabad, Balakot and Manshera.

Peshawar’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 03-05 degrees Celsius on Monday and Tuesday.

Meanwhile, rain-thunderstorm with snow over mountains occurred in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

Rainfall (mm): Parachinar 22, Pattan 20, Kalam 15, Balakot 14, Dir (Upper 11, Lower 06), Malam Jabba 08, Chitral 07, Saidu Sharif 05, Bannu 04, Drosh 03

Snowfall (Inches): Kalam 07, Malam Jabba, Parachinar 02

Kalam remained the coldest place in the province where mercury dropped 09 C below freezing.

In Peshawar, minimum temperature was recorded at 07 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 74 per cent.
