ISLAMABAD – Widespread rain-wind/thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over western parts of Pakistan. It will likely grip most upper/central parts of the country on Friday.
Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in the twin cities, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Thursday night and the following two days. Hailstorms are expected at isolated places. Heavy falls are also likely at a few places in north-eastern Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Isolated moderate to heavy rainfall may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Balochistan (Noushki, Chagai, Kharan, Turbat, Kech, Gwadar, Awaran, Ziarat, Pishin, Harnai, Zhob, Barkhan and Naseerabad) from tonight to 27th April. Rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Dir, Swat, Chitral, Manshera, Kohistan and Kashmir from 27th to 29th April.
Landslides are also likely in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan from 27th to 29th April. Windstorms/hailstorms and lightning may affect human lives, standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles and solar panels.
Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 28-30 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 30-32 C on Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed over most parts and hot in southern parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, rain-thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in northwest Balochistan and Parachinar.

Nawabshah remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 42 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 72 per cent.
In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 33 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 39 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 30 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 43 per cent.
