LAHORE – The Punjab Health Department has launched operation against unregistered and substandard medicines in the province.

On Thursday, special team raided factories of Uppal Pharma and BH Pharma on Multan Road in Lahore. Punjab Health Minister Kh Imran Nazir supervised the operation carried out by team comprising Chief Drug Controller Athar Jamal, Deputy Drug Controller Bilal Yasin and area drug inspectors.

The team recommended registration of FIRs and closure of both the factories for manufacturing unregistered and substandard medicines.

Talking to the newsmen, Kh Imran Nazir vowed to take all possible measures for freeing Punjab from unregistered, substandard and spurious drugs. He said that the department has apprehended a racket in Faisalabad which has its network in the Punjab Institute of Cardiology. He said that implementation of principles of hygiene in the province was his priority.
