TEHRAN – Iran on Friday shot down multiple Israeli drones over Isfahan amid regional escalations.
Blasts rocked a central Iranian city earlier today in what was said to be a suspected attack from Tel Aviv. Iran however took a cautious approach and hinted at no plans to hit back.
International media reports said Tehran’s subdued response depicts ongoing efforts by ambassadors who have been working to de-escalate the ongoing situation.
Iranian media said the blasts occurred due to Tehran’s air defences hitting drones near Isfahan. Iranian officials told wire service that there were no retaliatory strikes to respond against Israel.
As per the reports, the origin of the incident has not been definitively confirmed. We have not experienced any external attacks, and the current discussion leans more towards infiltration rather than a direct attack,” the official told media.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces or government have not issued any statement about the incident, despite earlier statements indicating its intention to retaliate against Iran for the recent strikes, which marked Iran’s first direct attack on Israel.
Amid the recent situation, the international community called for both sides to avoid further escalation.
Israel earlier issued warnings of retaliation after Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel nearly a week prior, in response to a deadly strike.
