QUETTA – More than 25 people were killed and dozens injured in two separate bomb blasts outside election offices of candidates in Balochistan ahead of general elections in Pakistan.

At least 15 people were killed and several injured in a huge blast at the campaign office of an independent candidate, Asfand Yar Kakar, in PB-47 constituency of Pishin district, Balochistan.

Videos circulating on social media show a large number of people gathered at the office after the attack, which has severely damaged vehicles parked near the office.

Law Enforcement Agencies have cordoned off the area as an investigation into the incident has been launched.

Shortly after, a bomb blast targeted an election office of the JUI-F in Qila Saifullah, killing at least 12 people.

An emergency has been declared in the area while security forces have reached the spot.

The deadly attacks come a day before the general elections scheduled for February 8 in Pakistan amid security threats.

Caretaker Information Minister Jan Achakzai has condemned the attack, calling it an attempt to sabotage the elections in Pakistan.
