PESHAWAR – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more rain-wind/thunderstorms in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday evening/night, Friday and Saturday.

As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave prevails over Pakistan’s central and upper parts. It will likely persist till March 31.

Under the influence of these conditions, more rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Malakand, Bajaur, Peshawar, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Karak and Waziristan on Thursday evening/night and the following two days. Heavy falls may occur in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Abbottabad and Mansehra during the period.

Moderate to heavy rainfall may trigger landslides in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Windstorm/hailstorms and lightning may damage standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles and solar panels. Tourists and farmers are advised to remain cautious during the wet period. Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.

Peshawar’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 24-26 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, rainfall occurred in Peshawar and parts of the province during the last 24 hours.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature reached 29 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 90 per cent.

In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 26 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 85 per cent.
