ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced a whooping increase of Rs4.56 per unit increase in electricity prices.

The regulatory authority has issued a notification in this regard, saying it has been increased on account of fuel cost adjustment for December 2023.

The latest revision in electricity prices would impose an additional burden of Rs39.80 billion on consumers, already facing record high gas prices.

Nepra said that the increase of Rs4.56 per unit will be received from consumers in electricity bills for the month of February 2024.

However, the revised prices will not be applicable to K-Electric and lifeline consumers.

In November last year, the authority had increased electricity price by Rs4.13 per unit on account of the fuel cost adjustment.
