There are some things that just need to be seen.

Not a big Taylor Swift fan just because it’s not the music I am familiar with nor to which I listen. Also not much of a football fan but I do tune in to the Super Bowl every year because, well, just because. I think it’s always been more to do with the idea of having all sorts of foods I don’t usually eat. You know, all that specialty, snacky, junk food?

This year I actually watched the game with some interest. I wasn’t interested in seeing Taylor so maybe it was QBs Patrick or Brock, running back Isiah or Christian, corner backs Trent and L’Jarius, Chris the defensive tackle, Nick the defensive end or Travis the tight end. I did cheer on the Chiefs but I have to admit I was a bit heartbroken for the 49ers because they played an awesome game.

I am learning because if you listen to the commentators, they do teach you about the game. I am not real confident in my ability to understand the game but I have a better idea of the objectives. Might just have another sport to add to my list of recreational watching.

I was so wrapped up in the whole experience I never even got out my munchies, nibblies, or treats. Was a bit hyped when the game ended so I did chomp down some potato chips while watching the show that followed the festivities. It was a late night.

Now that that is over I can concentrate on hockey, tennis and curling. Although you can’t tell under the hockey uniform, I am sure some of the hockey players, as well as the guys on the men’s curling teams, have lots of muscles and tight ends, too.

They seem to hold competency testing in high regard Stateside when it comes to the presidency, but there are other positions whose competency is just as vital. Don’t you think it would be a good idea to have any leader, boss, supervisor, etc. and anyone who is supposed to take care of us, police, doctor, priest/minister, etc. have such an assessment done?

I have to wonder how I would do on one of those tests. Probably not very well, I am afraid. How about you?

I am not yet 80 but wouldn’t want to take on responsibilities of running a country or as caretaker of anyone’s safety, health, wellbeing or soul.

I have friends who are 80 and older and I know they would not want to take on those roles. They were not even offended when I said I wouldn’t want them running the country. At this age we have enough trouble looking after ourselves, being available for our loved ones and being good supportive friends.

I have to wonder why anyone would want to do it. Isn’t this the time when we can do only what we want, spend time with only those we choose, be able to say no without rebuke, to not stress or worry about anything, wear mismatched clothes and funny red hats, say and do outlandish and completely inappropriate things?

Anyone who wants to give all that up needs a competency test.
