Has there ever been a more terrifying screen villain than Bren, the psychopathic clan leader in Kin (BBC1), as played to grisly perfection by Francis Magee?

I can't recall any TV thug combining such a terrifying physical presence with such chilling, vicious, amoral blood-lust. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

I bet I wasn't the only one who, on hearing Rishi Sunak was about to address the nation, reached for a metaphorical steel helmet. What was the PM about to do? Call the General Election? Invade Russia?
