Tito’s coming back!

According to a report from ESPN’s Tim Kurkjian, Terry Francona is planning on making a return to MLB.

Kurkjian said that he was told that Francona could be back in Major League Baseball “in a year and a half.” Prior to that, however, he has his health as his top priority right now and wants to get that in check before returning as a manager, The Spun reported.

“I was told Tito is going to get healthy and then he’ll be back [managing] in a year and a half,” Kurkjian reportedly said. “He loves the game, part of his fiber in every way, would not be shocked to see him back.” (RELATED: Baltimore Orioles’ Jackson Holliday Has Perfect, Boss Response To His Horrendous Start Season)

In the dugout since 1997, he began his managerial career with the Philadelphia Phillies, going on to lead the Boston Red Sox in 2004. He won two World Series championships with the Sox in ’04 and ’07. In 2013, he was hired as the manager of the Cleveland Guardians, leading the team to six playoff appearances. He reportedly got the team to the Fall Classic in 2016, but fell short to the Chicago Cubs.

Following the 2023 campaign, the 65-year-old Francona resigned from his position as Guardians manager, and at the time, he said he didn’t “foresee managing again,” according to The Spun

Well, it looks like he could be after all.

Kurkjian on Francona’s future, “Was told Tito is going to get healthy and then he’ll be back [managing] in a year and a half…he loves the game, part of his fiber in every way, would not be shocked to see him back. “
