Intuitions are bestowed solely by God; our minds are impervious to external influence

They appear the same but there is a world of difference between the two. Lord Krishna has derided those, who falsely assume self to be a karta in the verse #3.27, where He stated, “All acts are being done in totality by the modes of the material nature. But having consciousness deluded by false ego (ahankara), one assumes that I am the karta.” This can be understood by an example of a Tulsi plant. How does a Tulsi plant grow? What all is required? Some earth, a little water, sunlight or warmth and a seed of Tulsi. We can grow it in our homes, but Tulsi plants grow in forest also. Because it is the material nature, which grows them. We can participate in it, but we cannot by any stretch of imagination claim that we are karta of it. We can be a doer only because we don’t posses all the resources; only God does. That is the reason God is and He alone can be karta.

Let us understand what a doer actually is. They are in three modes. Beginning with the doer in goodness, “A doer, free from attachment, not an egoist, having a balance between patience and enthusiasm, free from fault of extreme reaction in success and failure, that doer is said to be in goodness.” (18.26) “A doer, who is lustful; desirous of chosen fruit of action; greedy; violent; engaged in impure behaviour; full of joy and sorrow, that doer is said to be in passion.” (18.27) All of us can be and are doers only, i.e. in one of the three modes. This can be understood by understanding how the ‘Karmaphala Principle’ works. In simple terms it is: “What we sow we reap.” There are two main questions, which arise from this. One: who decides what we will reap for our acts? Two: when and what results will come? The answer to both these is given by Lord Krishna in the famous verse #2.47, “You have no right in ever predetermining results of actions.” This right is in the exclusive purview of God, and God alone. Some of it, he delegates to the divine authority, which works under His superintendence. (9.10) However, The divine authority judges taking into consideration all aspects of our acts including how it will impact others. For example, some person has done a horrible act, which deserves big punishment. But if it is given instantly, family members maybe adversely affected. Therefore, the authorities may delay the punishment. God, on the other hand, has to deal with spiritual acts only, which deserve rewards. This is where the role of God becomes very important.

And God only, assisted by His agencies like the material nature, can be genuine karta. Because He is permanent in the existential sense. We, human beings, are in temporary material bodies. Then, God has all the resources at His command; He owns everything. We are allowed to use what is available, but there is no ownership as such. Upon leaving the body and getting relocated, all material acquisitions have to be left behind. God is omnipresent; He is present everywhere – a requirement for being an effective karta. He is personally available for all, whoever turns to Him. God is always busy doing duties.Only God has the power to give intuitions. Nobody can influence our minds as only God can. He has this power, which a karta needs. How else can a task be accomplished with many involved? God uses many of us as mediums to carry out His tasks as karta. For example, someone needs money, God must arrange to physically give this to that person. God, in fact, appoints many as His ‘nimitta’ (instrument) to carry out what He needs to do like establishing ‘dharma’ (sound religious principles), as He chose Arjuna of the Mahabharata fame.

Finally, we cannot be like God, but by aligning ourselves with Him, we will lack nothing. The fifth factor mentioned in the verse #18.14 will become favourable to us, yes, daiva. The verse is “The place of action and the doer and many different efforts and the fifth in the connection is providence only.”
