Boomers get blamed for a lot of stuff that has gone wrong over the past few decades. I often feel compelled to defend my generation. We used to be the largest demographic group on Staten Island, but our numbers are dwindling.

My friend Joy runs a comic book shop on Stuyvesant Place. If that wasn’t enough of a reason to love her, she was married to a real rock-and-roll rebel named Ed, who passed away much too soon. In a recent post, she claimed that her Gen X generation’s “sneering disgust” of all things proved warranted. I wrote back that sneering disgust never solves a problem. She replied, in part:
