The weirdest thing about my Wednesday wasn’t Dad deciding to wear slippers to climb a stepladder then owning himself and breaking two bones. It was coming home after nine hours in hospital to find a middle-aged man who shall remain nameless other than that he is my husband doing something totally What Even on his laptop.

He didn’t even jump to another browser window when found doing what could be interpreted as cyberstalking a younger woman: “She’s three hours away from landing. Flight on track ...”

So whacky. While the service station Valentine’s Day gerberas were plonked in water, we tried to dissect why he was invested enough in Tay Tay to follow her plane. Short conversation. He was fascinated by what groundspeed the world’s biggest celeb would look for in a plane.

Everyone has a reason for being into Taylor Swift. It feels like she’s taken over the whole planet and I’m wondering if there are other people out there who are confused/bemused by why Taylor is such a big deal.

Swifties, I get your girl is uber talented, smart, kind, polished, fights her corner, wears her heart on her sleeve (and to the bank), has only ever put a foot wrong once – that hot minute when she dated, um, Tom Hiddleston. She’s a self-made woman, fantastic role model and is said to own a modest Nissan Qashqai.

Still. I just don’t get the mass hysteria thing. Is she pulling a swifty on everyone? When and how will it end?

The queuing for hours on multiple devices for tickets, the spending of thousands of dollars on merchandise, the Taylorgating, the detailing by global media of Taylor’s every move. Look, here she is drinking a beer! Here she is in a jean! Here she is dancing with her big lug of a beau in Vegas!
